Cuesta Asistant Coach Matthew Blaney brings his basketball journey back home as the Cuesta Cougars' Assistant Coach. His is the first hire by Cuesta Head Coach Jamoni Barber and will help him guide the team into this new era.
Blaney is a logo talent and starred at nearby Mission College Prep, before heading off to beginning his college career at Foothill College in the Bay Area. After two seasons with the Owls, he transferred to Bellevue University in Nebraska. He completed his collegiate career with the Bruins, while also earning his degree in Sports Management. Blaney continued his basketball and educational adventure with a move to Italy. He earned a Masters in Sports Management and Coaching at the Rome City Institute, while also competiing for Club Basket Frascati. Upon his return to SLO, Coach Blaney mentored the team at Laguna Middle School in 2021-22.
