Both Sets of Cuesta Harriers Take 5th in Pink, Greenelsh Takes Men's Title

Cuesta College sent its harriers to Salinas to join 16 other teams for the "Pink in the Park" race.  Both sets of Cougars landed in 5th place, while defending State Champion Weston Greenelsh won the race for the men and Freshman Isabella Efner led the women's pack in 22nd place.

2025 Cuesta Co-Athlete of the Year Weston Greenelsh, has now won two of his three starts this season, after clearing the course in just 20:20.93.  Greenelsh has everyone chasing him this year and was just one of four harriers to complete the course in under 21-minutes, including runner-up Luciano Roberts of San Diego Mesa, who was about a half-second behind the leader.  Freshman Jeff Mondonca (16th) and returning all-WSC Harrier John-Paul Walsh (28th) both cracked the Top 30, while Anthony Frere (28th) and Alex Schindler (52nd) completed Cuesta's scoring team.

Freshman Isabella Efner led the Cougars for the 5th straight start and guided them to 5th place overall, after finishing 22nd (20:35.03) overall.  Fellow Newcomer Rebekah Waterbury has provided Efner with company in the pack as the Cougars' #2 runner.  The duo has not been separated by more than four places in any of their five starts and for the second time this season Waterbury came in right behind Efner.  Waterbury's time of 20:42.28 in Salinas earned her 23rd place overall, while fellow newcomer Sarah Trejo was not far behind in 25th place (20:49.25).  Freshmen Sophia Esparza Perez and Sarah Garcia, in 46th and 56th place, respectively, completed Cuesta scoring team.

Cuesta's Harriers return to action this weekend at NTC Park in San Diego at the 2025 SoCal Preview Meet.  The Preview shall showcase all the best runners in the Southern California Region, of which Cuesta and San Luis Obispo, have represented the region's most northern member since 1983.
