The Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month.  This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport.  Our female selection for December is Sophomore Grappler Aubree Kooren.

 

Kooren, who is technically a sophomore after competing at the club level in 2025, earned all-SEC First Team and carried the momentum into the State Finals with a 4-0 run to the title against a loaded 131-division.  She completed the season with a team-leading 25 wins and helped set a standard for the future of the program.  Cuesta Athletics has debuted four sports over the past 30 years, with only Women's Water Polo and Women's Wrestling reaching the post-season in their inaugural campaign.  

 

The Cougars finished 8th as a team at the 3C2A State Championships and in 3rd place in the SouthEast Conference.  The team boasted five all-SouthEast Conference performers, including Kooren and two other title winners, Ayten Elbarbary and Ahlexis Terry.
