Cuesta Women's Wrestling added the Palomar Invitational, on April 17, to the schedule this week as a final tune-up before the 2026 3C2A State Championships on May 2. The Cougars were originally slated to attend the US Open in Las Vegas, but decided to remain in-state for their final regular season competition.
After hosting their first official home duals last Wednesday, where the Cougars went 1-1 as a team, the Cougars travelled to Monterey Park for the East Los Angeles Open. The Cougars five-woman team finished 4th out of a dozen team and posted a combined record of 13-6. Ashleigh Terry claimed the team's lone title with a 3-0 mark at 160, but every member of the quintet landed reached the semi-finals and finished among the Top 4 in their division. Sophomore Aubree Kooren (2-1) claimed a Silver at 131, while returning all-American Ayten Elbarbary (4-1) earned a Bronze. Freshmen Ahlexis Terry and Ana Garcia-Delgado, at 160 and 202 respectivily, both finished in 4th place with a 2-2 record.
The Cougars shall enjoy a by-week, before heading to San Marcos for the Palomar Invitational next week.
