Cuesta Women's Wrestling is Official- First Match Set for March 7

Cuesta College Athletics continues to grow as the Cougars added their second sport over the past two season.  In 2024 the Cougars added beach volleyball and started their push for Women's Wrestling.  The Cougars petitioned to allow the women's club to complete at the sport's first 3C2A State Championship, where Ayten Elbarbarry earned All American honors.  Elbarbary returns to the mats this season, as she leads the Cougars into their first varsity season.

California Wrestling Hall of Famer Joe Dansby has agreed to extend his duties and mentor the women's team.  Coach Dansby, who has had several women compete alongside his men's team, has helped lead the charge to elevate the women's program to the varsity level.  The Cougars are a little more than a month away from their first competition of the season.  The women will make their official debut on the mats at the State Dual Tournament on March 7th.  The event shall be hosted at Cerritos College.  The Cougars only home event is scheduled for April 1st, when Cuesta hosts both Bakersfield (6 PM) and Lemoore (7 PM) at Cuesta's Stork Gym.
