Women's Water Polo Goes Undefeated in NorCal Tourney

Women's Water Polo played in the two-day West Valley Tournament last Friday and Saturday and swept the competition in a four-game run.  The 10th-ranked Cougars opened against the Mt San Antonio and defeated the Mounties, 11-7, for the second time this season, before taking down Merced, 9-7.  The Cougars also cruised through the competition on Saturday by blowing out both Cerritos and Cabrillo with identical 12-point victories, 16-4.  The Cougars are currently 9-4 on the season.

Cuesta Women's Water Polo, after recording a second victory over Mt San Antonio, shall travel to Walnut next weekend to play in the Mt SAC Tournament.  The tournament have not been announced, but this week's bye is the Cougars' first weekend off since mid-August.

Returning Cuesta All American Annika Pauschek is making her move on the Cuesta Record Book.  Pauschek collected nine steals during the Cougars four-game road trip to Saratoga and she currently boasts 106 career steals, which is just sixteen thefts behind her former teammate Hannah Kempf (122) for 10th all time at Cuesta.  She also drew six fouls last week and is now just four off the Cougars' Top 10 for that statistical category.  Teammate Amelia Braun (pict) currently leads Pauschek in career scoring, 75-to-72, but, with 15 games remaining in the regular season, they are both poised to be the 17th and 18th members of Cuesta's Century Club with over 100 career goals.  Of course, they will have to pick up the pace to catch their Coach Rachel Shiffrar, who ranks second all-time with 185 goals during her All-American seasons of 2013 and 2014.
