Cuesta Women's Track and Field is set to send six athletes to compete in seven events at the 2025 CCCAA State Championships this weekend in San Mateo. The Cougars are expecting to return with the heap of medals from a delegation that broke a school record and boasted a dozen more Cuesta Top 10 performances this season. The performance of the day came from Track Star Gwyndolyn Katics (pict-L), who broke her own school record in the 400-meters. Katics's time of :54.94 shaved another quarter of her previous standard. Sophomore Leaper Kiana Marie Lambert is the only member of the Cougars' contingent to qualify for two events. Last weekend, Lambert, who ranks 6th all time at Cuesta in the Long Jump (17-6.75), was just 1.5 inches off her best mark and advanced in 5th place in the event. She also qualified 6th in the Triple Jump with a season-best mark of 35-2.5. In the vertical jumps, Freshman Mia Martin only needed to clear 5-1, a full two inches off her season-best, to tie for 3rd place and qualify for State. In the throws, Cuesta is sending both Sophomore Harper Clark and Freshman Kristy Huynh in the Javelin, as well as Kiera Taylor (pict-R) in the Discus. Clark and Huynh qualified 4th (106-2) and 6th (105-3), while Taylor battled it out for the Regional Title. Taylor's Runner-up finish in the event highlighted her season-best mark in the event and was the Cougars' highest finish at the event. Taylor also moved into second place all time at Cuesta, right behind Christine Weinreich's 2010 record mark of 147-3.
