Grapplers Drop Opening Dual to Bakersfield, 25-22

Cuesta Wrestling opened its dual schedule with a SouthEast Conference match at Bakersfield.  After a forfeit at 125, the Cougars won four of the next six matches, before suffering three straight losses in the upper weight class.  The Renegades' comeback in the upper divisions allowed them to defend their home mats, 25-22, with a win over the Cougars.  Returning All Americans Grant Eklund (174) and Preston Scharf (165) both won their bouts, while returning State Qualifiers Dom Marquez (133) and Luke Vanbrabant (157) also picked up wins.  The Cougars are 0-1 in duals this season

The Grapplers shall remain on the road for the rest of the week.  They travel to Hayward on Thursday (5 PM) for a non-conference dual against the Chabot College.  After their match with the Gladiators, the Cougars turn North-East to attend the Modesto Tournament on Friday.
