Cuesta Men's Wrestling travelled to Bakersfield College last Saturday for the seven team SouthEast Conference Tournament.  The Cougars pounded out 167.5 points to beat out the SEC Dual Meet Champions Victor Valley, 165.5, by two points.  The edge in the duals still gave the Rams claim to the loop's overall crown, but the Cougars are hitting on all cylinders as they head into the CCCAA's Regional and State Championships.  Freshmen Grant Eklund and Preston Scharf led the way for the Cougars as they both won individual titles.  Eklund went 3-0 at 157, while Scharf needed only two wins for a title at 165.  Cuesta's Grapplers also claimed their share of Silvers and Bronze medals.  Freshmen Marshall Beecham and Chance Evans joined Sophomore Ian Rodriguez as Runner-ups, while six wrestlers went to the left on on the board and took 3rd place through the consolation bracket- Dominic Marquez (125), Daimen Rodriguez (133), Mark Bonenberger (141), Luke Vanbrabant (141), Ben Green (184) and Kaiden White (285).  The Cougars' Coaching Staff was also recognized. Coach Joe Dansby's longtime Assistant Coach Albert Garza (Pict- Front Row, Far Left) was named the SouthEast Conference Assistant Coach of the Year.  

The Cougars' next scheduled event is The Brawl Tournament at East LA this Saturday (All Day).  It is the Cougars' final non-championship event of the season.  East LA shall also host the CCCAA Southern Regional Tournament on December 7, while the CCCAA State Championship shall run over the next weekend, the 13th and 14th, in Lemoore.
