Cuesta Women's Basketball hosted fellow 6-5 team Lemoore for a non-conference game, but the visiting Golden Eagles earned the win, 71-57. Cuesta opened the game with an 8-4 run, but once Lemoore got hot, they outscored the Cougars, 24-8, the rest of the quarter and owned a 43-29 lead at the intermission. In the second half, Cuesta played even with the Golden Eagles, despite a couple of runs, as both teams scored 28 points in the second half. Lemoore's Savannah Rowland had the "Hot Hand" on the evening and scored a game-high 21 points, including a quartet of three-pointers, while her teammate Forward Lia Sims recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Forward Kinzie Amer led the Cougars by posting team-highs with 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Cuesta also received double-digit scoring from Guard Alyssa Gonzalez and Forward Fiona Durham, who recorded 11 and 10 points, respectively. The setback dropped the Cougars to an even 6-6 on the season.
Cuesta Women's Basketball shall continue its homestand this Saturday (3 PM), when they host Bakersfield.
