Cuesta Women's Basketball earned a split in their own Hinson's Tire Pros Tournament by beating San Jose Mission, 70-63, on the event's final day. The visiting Saints jumped out , 20-16, in the opening quarter, but the Cougars took a one-point lead into the intermission, 68-67. Mission briefly jumped back Infront to start the second half by employing a tenacious press, however the Cougars worked their way through and forced them out of it with precision passing and strong finishes. Cuesta closed the game with a 13-9 advantage in the final quarter to close their seven-point win, 70-63. The victory moved the Cougars record to 5-4 on the season.
One bright spot for the Cougars was the return of three-sport Star Kiera Taylor (pict). Taylor, in only her second game back, after leading Cuesta Women's Volleyball to the 3C2A Regional Playoffs, posted a double-double with games highs of both 22 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman Point Guard Alyssa Gonzalez led the Cougars with 29 points on the weekend and was named to the all-Tournament team.
The Cougars' Cagers shall take a break for Thanksgiving and return to action with back-to-back road games at Reedley and Porterville on December 3rd (6 PM) and 4th (4 PM), respectively. On December 10 (5 PM), the Cougars return to Stork Gym to host Lemoore.
