Cuesta Women's Basketball hosted fellow 3C2A Southern Region team Fullerton for an early season match-up. The two teams battled through the first half, with the visiting Hornets taking a one-point lead after the first period and the Cougars taking a four-point lead into the intermission, 41-37. The Hornets adjusted their defense during the break and locked down the Cougars during the second half. Cuesta was held to seven points in the third quarter and added only eight more points before the final buzzer in a 72-56 loss. All five of the Hornets starters posted double-digit scoring totals, while Freshman Kinzie Amer came off the bench to lead the Cougars. Amer posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, however the rest of the team went just 16-for-47 from the field. The loss dropped the Cougars back to 2-3 on the season.
The Cougars are back on the road for their third game of the week, when they travel to Gilroy on Friday (3 PM) for a game against Gavilan.
