Cuesta Softball hosted an undefeated Ventura in the 2026 home finale. The visiting Pirates jumped out to a four-run lead in the first inning and held their advantage as they posted a "run-rule" victory* over the Cougars, 9-1. Ventura remains atop the WSC standings with an unblemished, 9-0, record against the circuit. Today, Ventura out-hit the Cougars, 12-6, but also took advantage of a pair of Cuesta miscues, which contributed to four unearned runs for the visiting Bucs. The Cougars had their chances but stranded 10 runners on base and scored their lone run on Cierra Cloud's (pict) RBI-single in the 4th inning. Cloud and two of her teammates were stranded on base to end the inning. Sophomore First Baseman Sophia Edwards, who scored the Cougars only run of the day, connected for a game-high three hits on the day, which counted for half for the Cougars' offensive output. Cuesta's all-WSC Pitcher Shelbi Griffith split the game with Reliever Georgia Wilson, but was saddled with the losing decision. The Cougars are currently 12-23 overall and 4-6 against the Western State Conference with two games left on their schedule.
The Cougars will be on the road for the rest of their 2026 Campaign. They shall play at Santa Barbara next Tuesday (2 PM) and wait one more week to finish the season, the following Tuesday (2 PM) on April 21st in Santa Monica
