Cuesta Softball return home after a month away from San Luis Obispo to host Oxnard for a Western State Conference contest.  The Cougars opened strong and scored twice in the first inning.  Shortstop Abbey Jones opened the contest with a Single, before immediately scoring on Cierra Cloud's RBI-triple. Cloud crossed the plate a play later on Addy Finegan's Sacrifice Fly to give the Cougars a lead, 2-0.  The visiting Condors cut the Cougars' lead in half on Taetum Bill's solo Home run in the 3rd inning, however the scoreboard remained silent until the 7th and final frame.  The Condors opened the 7th inning by getting two of their first three batters on base, with a walk by Samantha Cervantes and a Single by Marylou Flores.  Both runners scored on Amber Cervantes's double, which gave the Condors their first lead of the game, 3-2.  In their final turn at-bat, the Cougars cobbled together a pair of singles and a base-on-balls to load the bases but were unable to score the equalizer.  The Cougars are now 6-17 on the season and 0-2 against the Western State Conference. 

 

Cuesta Softball continues this week's homestand on Thursday (2 PM), when the Cougars host local rival Allan Hancock for a Western State Conference contest.
