Cuesta Men's and Women's Cross Country both qualified for the 2025 3C2A State Championships, albeit on the opposite sides of the 10th position. The men place 9th of 27 teams, while the women took 11th place out of 20 full teams.
2024 3C2A State Champion Weston Greenelsh led the men for the sixth straight time this season but fell just short of the race title and had to settle for 2nd overall with a time of 20:07.6. Fellow Sophomore John-Paul Walsh also finished in the Top 40 to earn all-SoCal honors. Freshmen Jeff Mendonca (68th) and Anthony Frere (80th) continued to be mainstays of the Cougars' scoring team, while Oscar Allen (122nd, Pict-L) pushed into the Cougars' Top 5 for the fourth time this season.
On the women's side, the Cougars' all-Freshman set of harriers finished 11th, while qualifying as a unit for the 3C2A State Meet. The women mostly ran as a pack behind Selena Trejo, who took 53rd place, while leading the Cougars for only the second time this season. She was closely followed by teammates Rebekah Waterbury (58th), Isabella Efner (72nd) and Sophia Esparza Perez (78th), who all finished among the next 25 finishers. Freshman Sarah Garcia (167th, pict-R) was a few minutes behind the Cougars' main pack, but her finish clinched the Cougars' trip to the State Meet.
The 2025 3C2A State Championships are scheduled for November 22 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
