Men Finish 7th and Women 12th at SoCal Preview
Cuesta sent its harriers to San Diego last week for the Southern California Preview Meet.  The SoCal Preview is an all-comers event but mostly attended by teams in the 3C2A's Southern Region.  Cuesta's men finished 7th among the 30 teams represented at the event and placed its entire scoring team among the top 72 runners in the 196-man event.  2025 State Champion Weston Greenelsh finished 6th (20:40.50) overall to lead the Cougars, while teammate Jeff Mendonca (40th) joined him in the Top 50.  Sophomores John-Paul Walsh (28th) and Anthony Frere (52nd) also battled to get into the Top 50, while Freshman Alex Schindler (71st) completed the scoring team.

On the women's side, Freshman Rebekah Waterbury led the Cougars for the first time this season, while taking 45th overall with a time of 25:44.43.  Waterbury was quickly followed by fellow rookies Selena Trejo (47th) and Isabella Efner (53rd).  Efner led Cuesta in each of the Cougars' first five starts, while Waterbury finished behind her in four of those five races.   Freshmen Sophia Esparza Perez (65th) and Sarah Garcia (150th) completed the Cougars' scoring team.

The SoCal Preview completed the Cougars' regular season as they enter their championship schedule.  The Cougars have a two-week bye before the 2025 Western State Conference Championships at Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills on October 24.
