Freshman Goaltender Ezra Smeltzer has starred between the pipes all season and is at his best in big games.  He was crucial to the Cougars run to the Western State Conference title game, while securing the program's 46th straight playoff berth.  Smeltzer held Santa Monica to only one goal in the first half of the Cougars' Western State Conference Semi-Final game, before handing a ten-point lead to fellow Goalie Jacob Slotemaker.  Smeltzer returned to the game in the fourth quarter as a field player and added to the blowout, 18-7, with a goal of his own.  In Saturday's title game, Smeltzer posted a season-high 15 saves in the Cougars loss to Ventura, 13-12.  On the season, Smeltzer has led the Cougars to 16 wins, while his 200 saves rank 14th in the State.

Cuesta Men's Water Polo shall open the post-season against fellow Western State Conference foe, #9-seed Los Angeles Valley in the first round on Thursday (10 AM).   The 3C2A Regionals are hosted by Southwestern College in Chula Vista
