Poloists Prep For Mt San Antonio Tournament This Weekend (Update)

Men's Water Polo prepares for the two-day, four-game Mt SAC Tournament in Mt San Antonio College in Walnut this Friday and Saturday.  The Cougars had been scheduled to also play against Redlands University on their way to Walnut, however that contest has been cancelled.  The final schedule for the tournament has NOW been released by the Mounties.  The Cougars are scheduled to play both Saddleback (10:50) and host Mt San Antonio (4 PM) on Friday and finish the tournament early on Satuday with games against Palomar (8 AM) and Cypress (9:30).  Cuesta has also added another contest to Saturday's schedule.  After finishing the Mt SAC Tournament, the Cougars shall return home to play the Shanghai Water Polo Club from China at Cuesta College Pool (4 PM).

After a busy weekend in Merced two weeks ago, with six events in two days, the Cougars hit the road for a non-3C2A game at Occidental College in Los Angeles on Thursday.  The Cougars and Tigers were locked in a stalemate, 6-6, after the first half, but after the intermission Cuesta pushed past their NCAA DII foes.  The Cougars came out strong after the intermission and outscored their host, 6-2, to take control of the game in the third quarter.  Cuesta added posted five more tallies in the final quarter to secure the victory, 17-11.  Sophomore Dustin Drobeck scored a career and game-high six goals in the contest, while Returning All-American Johnny Starr netted three goals of his own.  The victory boosted the Cougars' record to 4-2 on the season.
