Men's Track & Field sent four athletes to compete in five events at the 2026 3C2A State Championships last weekend. The unit was led by 2025 3C2A Champion Weston Greenelsh (pict-R), who was set to defend his 2025 State Title in the 5,000-meters and improve his Silver in the 1,500-meters. Greenelsh, who has also won the past two 3C2A Cross Country titles, entered the meet with a target on his back but still put in a pair of elite performances. He did not add to his title collection but brought home another Silver in the Metric-mile (3:52.31) and a Bronze in the 5,000-meters 14:48.42). His running-mate Anthony Frere (pict-L)capped his outstanding sophomore campaign with a Bronze in the 800-meters. Frere dropped a full six seconds off his freshman time and reached the medal stand, while moving into second all-time at Cuesta for the event. His time of 1:52.11 is the fastest time by a Cuesta Harrier over the past half-century and trails only Mike Bisbee's 1977 school record. The Cougars also received podium worthy marks from Freshman Pole-vaulter Matthew Taylor and Sophomore Thrower Heath Jones. Taylor, who was also the Cougars' top Decathlete, cleared 13- 9.25 and earned 7th place in the Pole Vault, while Jones took 11th in the Javelin with a toss of 157-1.
The men finished the season 2nd in the Western State Conference, for the second straight year and 13th at the 3C2A State Championships.
