Cuesta Hosts First Central Coast Challenge with Hancock and Hartnell
This week marked the first Central Coast Challenge, and both Allan Hancock and Hartnell joined the Cougars for the double-dual meet scoring event.  Cuesta's men took second in the event, after a win over the rival Bulldogs, but Hartnell compiled an event best 99 points to take the overall victory.  Cuesta was led by 2025 Cuesta Athlete of the Year Weston Greenelsh, who picked up a pair of easy wins in the 800 (1:56.60) and 1,500 (4:07.71), while being tracked by his former cross country teammate Anthony Frere.  Frere finished two-hundredths of a second behind Greenelsh in the metric mile and claimed another Silver while trailing his decorated teammate by less than two seconds in the 800-meters.  The Cougars also got a win in the 400-meters, when Sophomore Alexander Oldham cleared the oval in :50.71.  The Cougars also picked up a pair of wins from their airborne squad.  Decathlete Matthew Taylor cleared 12' 3.5" to win the Pole Vault and Freshman Zayne Ellison soared 20' 9" to win the Long Jump.  Freshman Heath Jones claimed the Cougars only win in the throws, with a toss of 145' 9" in the Javelin.

The Cougars return to action next Friday in Santa Maria for the Henry Kirk Invitational.
