Cuesta Track & Field travelled to Monterey Peninsula College for the Lobo Invitational and joined nine other colleges, plus a pair of clubs, for the one-day event. Cuesta's women won the meet title, while the men finished 2nd as a team.
The women's team was led by newcomer Kennedy Mcadoo, who was part of all three of the Cougars event titles. Mcadoo won the 400-meters (:58.81) on her own, while claiming Bronze in the 200-meters (:26.56), before anchoring the winning 4x400 relay (4:16.40). Her times in the 200 (8th) and 400 (5th) both earned a spot on the Cougars' all-time Top 10. The Cougars also received a trio of Cuesta Top 10 marks in the hurdles. Sophomore Samantha Duran nabbed the 8th spot all time in the in the 100 hurdles , just one place and .08 second behind her teammate Riley Passanisi, before Duran also posted the 10th best time for a Cougar in the 400-huurdles 1:11.08. In the throws, 2025 All-State Performer Kiera Taylor and fellow 2025 State Qualifier Kristy Huynh both posted new Top 10 marks. Taylor moved up to the 9th spot in the Hammer (117-7.75), while Huynh claimed the 8th spot in the Javelin (118-4).
On the men's side, three-time State Champion Weston Greenelsh cruised to victory in the 3,000-meters, before joining Zachary Rubin, Alexander Oldham and Gavin Beck to win the 4x400 relay (4:16.40). Rubin also won the 800-meters (2:04.05), while 2025 Cross Country State Qualifier Jeffrey Mendonca led the pack in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:20.24.
The Cougars return to training this week and shall host the Central Coast Challenge on February 27 (Noon)
