Dawes and Greenelsh Advance to State for Men's Track & Field

All-State Harrier Weston Greenelsh (pict-L) and all-WSC Leaper William Dawes (pict-R) shall both advance to the 2025 CCCAA State Championships this weekend in San Mateo.  Greenelsh, who won the 2024 CCCAA Cross Country title last Fall, and Dawes are both set to compete in two events this weekend.  Greenelsh shall be the South's top-seed in the 5,000-meter run and shall also compete in the metric mile (1,500m), where he is the 3rd-seed from the Southern Region.  His regional time in the 1,500-meters of 4:00.61 was only 1.48 seconds off the winning time, but a leisurely six-plus seconds off his season-best time of 3:54.18.  In the 5K, his time of 15:28.29 outpaced two other harriers, who all finished within a second of each other, but was also nearly a minute behind his season-best time of 14:32.87.   Dawes cleared 22-10 to claim the SoCal Crown in the Long Jump and flew 46-3.5 to earn a Silver in the Triple Jump.  His marks, though elite, were six inches and a full foot, respectively, off his previous season-bestsso like Greenelsh, he should be rested and ready to "pop" a title-worthy performance at the State meet.  Dawes currently ranks 2nd all time at Cuesta in the Triple Jump (47-3.5), behind former State Champion Luke Nickelson (47-3.5) and third all-time in the Long Jump, behind Nickelson (24-7.25) and Henry Jenkins (23-10.75).
