Cuesta Men's Basketball, after an 0-6 start to the season, has gone 3-4 during the month of December. The Cougars are coming together as a team but still have three more games to play before they enter their Western State Conference schedule. Cuesta's Cagers shall take this week off, before returning to action at the Allan Hancock Holiday Classic on December 29 & 30. The Cougars are scheduled to open the two-day tournament on Monday (3 PM) against Cypress, before facing Shasta on Tuesday (1 PM). Cuesta will get the chance to face the Bulldogs the next week, when the 2026 Western State Conference schedule opens on January 10. On that day, the Cougars host the Bulldogs for a men's (1 PM) and women's (3 PM) twinbill.
Cuesta Men's Basketball travelled to Northern California last week for a pair of games at Santa Rosa Junior College's Kris Kringle Tournament in Roseville. The Cougars entered the event riding a two-game winning streak and opened against the College of the Redwoods, for the first of their two meetings this season. Redwoods took the game, 81-64, and shall host the Cougars in Eureka on January 3 (1 PM), for their final pre-conference contest. Cuesta closed the tournament with a re-match against the 25th-ranked Foothill Owls. The Owls, who visited the Cougars in San Luis Obispo for a game on November 12, picked up their second win against the Cougars. Back in November, the Owls needed a strong second half to overcome the Cougars' halftime lead, 37-34, to earn a victory, 76-62, but left little doubt in Santa Rosa, 114-69. The Cougars are 3-10 on the season.
