Redshirt Freshman Guard Drew Ardouin has hit his stride in Western State Conference play. Ardouin sat out last season but has been one of the Cougars most dynamic and clutch players this season. He leads the team with 18.8 points per game on the season and has bumped that up to 19.4 during Western State Conference play. Ardouin leads the State with 89 three-pointers and has become the Cougars' go-to guy in the clutch. He is tied for 6th in the State with a 46.4 shooting percentage from beyond the 3-point line and his 471 total points this season rank 12th in the State, while leaving him just 29 points away from becoming the 31st member of Cuesta exclusive 500-point club. Ardouin has cleared the 20-point barrier five times against the WSC, however his 37 points against Merced on November18 marked the most points by a Cuesta player since 2016 and landed him in 11th best all time at Cuesta, yet 10 points shy of Marcus Bloom's 1997 school record.
The Cougars are 13-12 on the season and riding a four-game winning streak in WSC play with three games remaining in the regular season.
