Former Cuesta Stars Tabbed as MLB Draft Prospects

Former Cuesta Baseball Stars Mikey Bell (pict-L) Jacob Johnson (pict-R) have both flourished away from San Luis Obispo and have been listed among the MLB's Top Collegiate Prospects from West Coast Conference programs.

Third Baseman Mikey Bell, who earned all-WSC First Team and All-State honors as the Cougars' 2024 Team MVP, before transferring to Gonzaga.  In Spokane, Bell has continued to find success and has repeated on the ABCA/Rawlings All-West Second Team honor, while also garnering his second consecutive West Coast Conference Player of the Year Award.  This season, Bell boasted a season batting average of .430 in WCC games, including a 1.197 OPS, including 23 extra base hits and 87 total bases in just 27 games against the loop.  Bell batted .396, while starting all 53 games this season, while ranking amongst the national leaders in doubles (24) and extra-base hits (85). He finished the year with the fifth most doubles of any Division 1 Baseball player with 24. He had 85 hits. 

In his first year in at St. Mary's, Jacob Johnson plays on the corners of both the infield, first or third base or right and leftfield, while anchoring the middle of the Gaels' batting order.  Johnson finished second on the team with both 15 home runs and 54 runs batted in, while batting .338.  Like Bell, he was tabbed as an all-WCC selection.  In his one season at Cuesta, heled cuesta after leading the Cougars to the 2025 3C2A Playoffs and earning all-Western State Conference First Team honors.
