Baseball Completes Season Sweep of Oxnard, 12-2
Cuesta Baseball completed its season sweep of Oxnard with a convincing victory in SLO, 12-2.  Today, the Cougars fell behind early, after the visiting Condors tacked up a pair of runs in their first turn at the plate, but Cuesta responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning and held Oxnard scoreless the rest of the way.  Freshman Wren Woods (pict), who made his first start of the season, bounced back from a bout of first inning jitters to hand the bullpen an eleven-run lead in the sixth inning.  The Cougars pounded out 18 hits, including six doubles, with six players enjoying a multi-hit game.  Outfielder Jak Sinclair and Catcher Jack Gradel joined Infielders Sean Rivas and AJ Martinez as they each collected three hits on the day.   The Cougars, who have not missed the post-season since 2017, are currently 19-16 overall with five games remaining on the schedule.  The Cougars, since 1990, have not missed the playoffs in a season where they posted 20 or more wins and a record above .500.  
 
Cuesta Baseball has five games scheduled over the next eight days as they close out Western State Conference play.  The Cougars, who are the defending conference champions, who entered the week three games behind their local rival and current loop leader Allan Hancock.  The Cougars are set to host the Bulldogs this Saturday (1 PM), but have two more games, before the Bulldogs visit SLO. Cuesta travels to Santa Barbara City on Thursday (2 PM) and shall also welcome Ventura to campus on Friday (2 PM).  The Cougars shall close out their regular season next week with games against Los Angeles Pierce and Moorpark.
