Baseball Closes Moorpark Series with Two Wins
Cuesta Baseball completed its first swing through the Western State Conference with a pair of victories over Moorpark.  The Cougars, who lost to the Raiders on Tuesday, 10-8, bounced back with a shutout in Moorpark on Thursday, 6-0, and a comeback victory in front of their home faithful today, 8-5.  Moorpark, like they did on Tuesday, jumped out early with three runs in their first at-bat, but Cuesta called for Sophomore Reliever Jack Stannard (pict) to put out the fire.  Stannard entered the game in the second inning with the bases loaded and zero outs.  He got out of the jam, while allowing on inherited run, and held down the Raiders as the Cougars took the lead into the 9th inning.  Freshman Closer Benjamin Straw came out of the bullpen to Save Stannard's victory, 8-5.  On offense, four Cougars enjoyed a multi-hit game, including Designated Hitter Erik Furness, who shared team-highs with two hits, two runs scored and two runs driven in.  Centerfielder Makani Nabarro did not score, but matched Furness with two hits and a pair of RBI, while Third Baseman Hank Hansen and Catcher Jack Gradel also enjoyed multi-hit games.  The win moved the Cougars' record to 18-16 overall , as well as 10-8 against the Western State Conference.

The Cougars, who have only missed the post-season four times since 1990, will enjoy a bye in their WSC schedule next week, before closing the regular season with a final round of action with a single game against each member of the loop.  The Cougars next game is scheduled for Tuesday (2 PM), April 14, when Oxnard comes to SLO.  The Cougars shall also play against Santa Barbara at Pershing Park on Thursday (2 PM), before closing the week by hosting local rival Allan Hancock on Friday (2 PM)
