Cuesta Baseball welcomed current Western State Conference cellar dweller, Moorpark, to open a three-game series. The Raiders took advantage of five errors committed by the Cougars' defense, which led to six unearned runs in the game. The Raiders staggered their hosts with seven runs in the first two innings, while the Cougars waited until Outfielder Jak Sinclair (pict) went deep in the 4th inning to get their offense started. On the day, Sinclair slugged a pair of three-run homers to keep the Cougars in contention, while also adding a Double to his collection of hits and driving in a career-high six runs. Sinclair's second clout was part of the Cougars' four-run, 9th inning, but was not enough to complete the comeback. Sinclair was joined by Gavin Colombo, the Cougars' other corner outfielder, as well as the left side of the infield, Shortstop AJ Martinez and Third Baseman Hank Hansen, as they each enjoyed multi-hit games. After the visiting Raiders opened with seven runs in the first two innings, the Cougars' bullpen held the visitors to only one more earned run in the game. The loss moved Cuesta's record to an even 16-16 overall and 8-8 against the WSC.
The Cougars travel to Moorpark to play on Thursday (2 PM) and return to slow to complete their series against the Raiders on Saturday (1 PM)
