Cuesta Baseball hosted the second game of this week's three-game series against local rival Allan Hancock, and the Bulldogs evened the series at 1-1. The Cougars blanked the Bulldogs in Santa Maria on Tuesday, 4-0, but could not figure out the Bulldogs' Pitcher Ryan Cronk, in today's loss, 5-1. Cronk hurled a complete game, while holding the Cougars' explosive offense to only one run. Cuesta out-hit the visiting Bulldogs, 9-to-8, on the day and the Bulldogs struckout more than twice as many times as the Cougars, 7-3, but Cronk kept the Cougars off balance and off the bases. The Hancock Southpaw walked only one batsman, while the Cougars' staff issued the Bulldogs seven free passes on the day. On offense, Cuesta was led by Sophomore Shortstop Max Hunter, who joined fellow infielders Hank Hansen and Sean Rivas with a game-high two hits apiece. The setback dropped the Cougars, who have players the most games against the conference, into third place, by percentage, and into three-way battle with the Bulldogs and Santa Babara City.
The Cougars and Bulldogs shall complete this weeks' series back in Santa Maria on Saturday (1 PM)
