Cuesta Women's Beach Volleyball shall complete its regular season this Friday in Moorpark with a pair of Western State Conference matches. The Cougars will open against Santa Barbara City (9 AM), before facing the host Raiders (11 AM) to close the complete their regular season schedule. Moorpark and Santa Barbara City, currently, who tied for the WSC's indoor title in the fall, have continued to remain atop the WSC standing in the Spring. The Vaqueros (9-1) currently holds a two-match advantage over the host Raiders (7-3) in the WSC standings, while the Cougars are 2-8 against the WSC circuit, but only one win away from tying the program's single-season win record.
Last week, the Cougars, under Interim Coach Jayelin Lombard, split a pair of matches in Santa Monica. The Sand-Spikers opened with a second sweep of Glendale (5-0), before falling to Santa Monica, 4-1.
The Cougars #2 duo of Cayley Brown and Hanne Porter posted two victories on the day, while recording back-to-back sweeps over Glendale (21-10, 21-18) and Santa Monica (21-19, 21-14). Brown has now surpassed Amelie Lo Jocano's program record of 16 career victories. Overall, with two matches left in the regular season, the Cougars are only one victory away from tying last season's program win record (6). Cuesta is 5-15 on the season and 2-8 against the Western State Conference.
