Beach Volleyball Heads to Ventura to Face the Champs
Cuesta Beach Volleyball passes the halfway point of their Western State Conference (WSC) schedule this Friday in Ventura.  The Cougars, who played Ventura in Bakersfield last weekend, are set for a re-match against the host Pirates (11 AM), before facing Santa Monica (Noon) for the first time this season.  The Pirates and Corsairs are the defending 2025 Western State Conference co-Champions.

Last week, in Bakersfield, for WSC matches against Bakersfield and Ventura  The Cougars opened with a loss to the host Renegades, 4-1, with their #2 pairing of Cayley Brown and Hanne Porter picking up their lone win in straight sets (21-15, 21-11), while at #5 Avery Hornsby and Rosita Menta pushed Bakersfield into a tie-breaker, before falling in five sets (21-23, 22-20, 13-15).  The Sand-Spikers closed the day against this week's host Ventura, with a contest that went down to the final match.  Once again, the Cougars' depth of talent shined as they dominated the bottom of the ladder.  Kamryn Holland and Ella Mcdermott won in straight sets at #4 (21-5, 21-9), while outscoring the Bucs, 42-14, and Audrey Bolton joined Meghenna Westervelt in a sweep at #5 (21-13, 21-12).  Bolton, who has played only ten matches this season, is the only Cuesta player to boast a winning record (6-4) on the season and is only one win off the team lead in victories.

On the season, the Cougars are 4-12 overall and posted a 1-5 mark during their first swing through the WSC Loop, with a 10-20 record for individual sets.
