Cuesta Beach Open for Business Cougars Host WSC Twinbill on Campus
Cuesta Beach Volleyball hosted Western State Conference rivals Moorpark and Santa Barbara for their final home matches of the season.  The Cougars were swept, 5-0, by both teams and fell t0 4-10 overall and 1-3 in WSC play.
In between matches, the Cougars, who are amid the program's third season, took time to honor their sophomores, who have helped grow the program.  Veteran the Sand Spikers, Brynn Bennett, Cayley Brown (pict), Hanne Porter, Katelyn Hesch and Rosita Menta are all back and making an impact this season. Last year, Bennett, with her partner Amelie LoJocano, set the program's win record with eight victories in a season and has joined Brown in the #1 spot this cycle.  Brown, a two-time all-Conference player on the hardwood, is a dominant server, who holds the Cougars' single-season service ace record indoors.  She and Bennett are helping each other claim another record, as they are, individually, two and three wins, respectively, away from LoJocano's career win mark (14).  Porter led the Cougars in blocks during the indoor season, but seems more comfortable in the sand, where she can demonstrate her full set of skills.  She has spent most of the season paired with Freshman Elizabeth Trimble and they are one of two Cuesta pairings that own a winning percentage at .500 or above.  Fellow Sophomore Katelyn Hesch also boasts a 6-6 mark with her partner Cashlin Cuadros, so the Cougars are eager to see if either pairing can break the "even mark" on the season.  Menta spent most of her freshman season paired with Porter, but had a slow start to the season, after taking off the indoor season and is 1-2 this spring.

The Cougars are back in action next Friday in Glendale for a pair of WSC matches against Ventura (11 AM) and Santa Monica (Noon).
