Beach Volleyball Splits WSC Opener in Bakersfield
Cuesta Women's Beach Volleyball travelled to Bakersfield on Friday to open Western State Conference play.  The Cougars opened with a quick victory over Glendale, 5-0, to pick up their first win under Interim Head Coach Jayelin Lombard, who is filling in while Coach Whitney Meyer is out on leave.  In the nightcap, Bakersfield defended its beach with a win, 3-2 over the Cougars.  The Cougars #3 pair of Cashlin Cuadros and Katelyn Hesch did the bulk of the damage for the Cougars by posting a win in both matches.  The duo swept against Glendale, 21-14 and 21-19, but needed three sets to take down the host Renegades, 21-16, 15-21, 15-10. The Cougars are now 4-8 on the season as a team and own an individual match record of 29-31.

Cuesta's Sand-spikers are back in action this Friday on their home courts on Cuesta's campus.  The Cougars are set to host Western State Conference foes Moorpark (10 AM) and Santa Barbara (Noon).  This Friday's matches also represent the Cougars final on campus event of the season.
